Nomination Period Extended For Ontario Francophonie Awards 2008
TORONTO – In order to further encourage Ontarians to submit nominations for the 2008 Ontario Francophonie Awards, the Government of Ontario is extending the nomination period to December 14, 2007.
The Ontario Francophonie Awards recognize individuals, both Francophone and Francophile, who have made valuable contributions to the advancement of the French language and culture in Ontario.
The nomination period, which opened on June 15, 2007, has been extended to December 14, 2007, at 5 p.m. The awards will be presented at a ceremony organized by the Ontario government in March 2008, during International Francophonie Week (Semaine internationale de la francophonie).
Presented for the first time on November 20, 2006 by Premier Dalton McGuinty at a gala celebration of the 20th anniversary of the French Language Services Act, the Francophonie Awards are granted to one Francophone and one Francophile whose actions have contributed to the social, economic, political and cultural vitality and well-being of Ontario's Francophone community.
